Development

It has long been recognised within the water industry that
substantial benefits exist if a "standard" CSO could be
produced. There have been many approaches offering
solutions utilising pre-cast concrete, steel and lightweight
plastic based materials. Typically these products have been
developed and offered to the industry with a fixed portfolio
of sizes in order to retain cost efficiencies in the
manufacturing process.

Although there is great commonality between each new CSO, there are generally site specifics covering items such as weir length, spill flow and hydraulics which tend to steer the specifier away from the portfolio of standard sizes and into a bespoke product.

Bespoke service
The new design approach recognises that the CSO chamber is simply a secure, underground void to house a screen. The
dimensions of the chamber are governed by key parameters, the main variable being the overall length of the weir.

The use of a large diameter WEHOLITE plastic pipe means that overall weight is substantially reduced. LITESPEED CSOs can be specified to any length to incorporate access to suit bespoke requirements.

The advantages of manufacturing CSOs off-site include
improved quality and reducing installation time, with the
added benefit of increasing site safety.
