Benefits

With all of the potential solutions LITESPEED offers, it is rapidly becoming the answer to CSO engineering
requirements, benefiting the surrounding environment,
be it a built-up traffic congestion area or a rural location.

LITESPEED is both a logistical and more environmentally friendly application solution for an underground water proposal.

Health and Safety
As with all construction activities there lies an inherent safety risk due to the nature of the uncontrolled environment. Generally this would be at the bottom of a 4m deep excavation in the cold rain and mud. The pipe solution has the benefit of the work being substantially undertaken in the controlled environment of a factory unit. Also there is the reduced man hour time spent on the project overall. Associated with this are the added benefits of reduced work at height, reduced amount of travel time and consequential road traffic accidents.

Quality
The control of build quality is greatly increased in the factory environment also allowing for a pre-installation inspection.

Procurement

Component parts i.e. bulkheads would be stored within the factory allowing for rapid production time. As can be demonstrated although the units are bespoke this does not effect production time.

Installation
Light and easy to install typical weight inclusive of pre-fitted screen 2 tonnes. The ease at which the plastic can be welded allows for exceptional large chambers to be transported in unit sections and connected on site.
Also this flexibility of the plastic allows for minor alterations
and additions to be undertaken on site for minimal costs.

Environmental

Recent investment in manufacturing technology ensures minimal waste, faster production times and energy savings. The lightness of the product means only one delivery to site and the speed of installation lead to energy savings and reduced potential for pollution incidents. This concept provides the most environmentally friendly solution.

Cost
A direct cost comparison has been undertaken on a
typical CSO structure by the cost consultants CKBS that
demonstrated there would be an expected 30% saving
against traditional methods. The savings are realised by the
reduction in capital costs and duration on site together with
consequential savings on preliminary costs, excavations
support and dewatering.
